Originally disappointed, now impressed . . . . see update!

. . . . in light of all the glowing reviews read, and based on other purchasers’ experience I purchased this product. Looks good, very wide – as advertised, but disappointingly inconsistent. Followed all instructions, to the letter, but never managed to get it to weigh the same twice. Both my husband and I tried, and both got varying weights. Not helpful when embarking on a weight reduction regime, so it is unluckily having to go back. Thank goodness Amazon’s return system is so user-friendly.
Update August 1st 2010
I was more or less amazed to receive an email response from the Vice President of EatSmart Products within with regards to 20 minutes of the posting the above. He assured me I must have received a lemon (his words), which apparently happens from time to time. He also went on to say, and I quote, “I was hoping to get you a substitute without delay under our warranty program. Its the least we may do after putting a faulty product in your hands.”
I was duly impressed and told him so in my responding email. However, to date I have not received a replacement, nor do I now expect/want one to arrive. Having re-read other reviews of this and other EatSmart models, I believe this model is, in fact, a lemon. Other models seem to be systematically accurate, whereas, it appears, this peculiar model is not.
I am now looking elsewhere for a consistent and precise scale.
Further update August 4th 2010
Today I received an unexpected package by way of FedEx. I had duly returned my ‘lemon’ and received a refund. I thought that was the end of the story. Not so! A new scale from EatSmart Products, with a letter from the Vice President, apologizing for the lemon and enclosing a new scale, which, he informed me, has been exhaustively tested for accuracy.
This accuracy I may confirm. Both my husband and I tested, and re-tested, and there was never a variation. I even tested it with one of my cats – spot on each time.
EatSmart distinctly stand by their products, recognise there are ocassional flaws, and speedily rectify the situation. I am a very impressed and happy customer. Obviously a company which values their name and reputation, and justifiedly so.

Perfect for my whole family. Finally convinced in my weights.

I have anxiously awaited the release of this scale for some time and now that I ultimately have it I am even happier than I thought I could be. Everybody in my family is big. I am 6’4″, 375 pounds, so the need for a scale that could handle my weight was in truth comparatively tough to find. After talking to the folks at EatSmart, they convinced me to hold out for this one and I am glad I did.
The platform itself is the greatest person syndication point for me. Its probably a good five inches wider than the last scale I had. It gives me piece of mind that I am being decently weighed and I don’t have to worry in regards to turning an ankle or worse because my feet are hanging off. The 440 lb capacity was also a ought to for me, and so far I have found it very accurate. It was within .2 lbs of the scale in my gym, so I am in the end convinced that I am loosing galore weight. The backlit display is nice, but frankly unless you live in a cave I don’t think you need it as the display is so huge to commence with.
The fact that this company likewise seems to stand behind their merchandise is huge for me. At 350+ lbs I have gone through a few scales over the years, and after talking with the owners at Eatsmart I would not hesitate to buy from them again. Probably the best buy of my young Amazon career.

Awesome scale

This is by far the best scale I have ever owned. I love the oversized platform, the clean look of it and that it only requires two batteries. You get the same weight no matter how galore times you step on and off right in a row. I did this with each family fellow member in my home to be sure it was accurate. It was right on each time. The prompt deliverance by the company was a big plus.
